Location and Attractions
Boat of Garten is a quiet Highland village, nestling by the side of the mighty River Spey and best known for the Strathspey Steam Railway which connects it with its livelier neighbour Aviemore and for the nearby RSPB reserve which is home to the most famous Osprey breeding grounds in the UK.
The village itself has a pub and a few eating places; many more are within 5 to 10 miles. There is also a general shop which is open long hours including Sunday, a Post Office and a Laundry within the local campsite.
The local and well-loved Boat of Garten golf course is open to visitors if tee times are booked in advance.
The immediate Spey Valley area is one of the most popular holiday areas in Scotland capable of providing an excellent holiday all year round no matter what your interests.
Apart from the outstanding natural beauty of the area and the access to many splendid walks and outdoor areas, it boasts some of the most popular and well run visitor attractions built especially with families in mind, like Landmark Adventure and Heritage Centre in Carrbridge and the Rothiemurchus Estate in Aviemore.

Golfers, fishing enthusiasts, birdwatchers, walkers and climbers, watersports lovers and skiers all come back year after year to this beautiful part of the Highlands.

It is also a splendid base from which to get to know those other parts of Northern Scotland you have always wanted to see; Royal Deeside, the Isle of Skye, John O Groats, the Speyside Whisky Trail and Loch Ness are all within a day's outing. Maps and information are available within the cottage.
